I can’t hear the Listening audio.
Check your volume and silent switch, then press Play. On iPhone/iPad, turn off Silent mode. Chrome, Edge and Safari give the clearest voices.
Can I hear the lessons explained in Malayalam, Hindi or Filipino? (മലയാളം · हिन्दी · Filipino)
Yes — it’s optional. Choose Malayalam, Hindi or Filipino under Profile → Voice lessons in my language (or press the button at the top of any lesson). Every lesson then shows a 🎧 voice lesson that explains it in your language, with the English exam parts spoken in English; choose “English only” to switch it off. When a tutor has recorded a lesson you simply press play; otherwise it is read by your device’s voice for that language. Hindi works on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows — if it is silent, add a Hindi voice: iPhone/iPad: Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → Hindi; Android: Settings → Text-to-speech → Speech Services by Google → Install voice data → Hindi (India); Windows: use Microsoft Edge or Settings → Time & language → Speech → Add voices → Hindi. Malayalam works on Android phones and tablets (Install voice data → Malayalam (India)) and on Windows in Microsoft Edge; Apple devices have no Malayalam voice, so on an iPhone you can read the full Malayalam text under “Read the Malayalam text” (the English parts still have 🔊 buttons). Filipino works on Android phones and tablets (Install voice data → Filipino (Philippines)) and on Windows in Microsoft Edge; Apple devices don’t include a Filipino voice, so on an iPhone you can read the full text under “Read the Filipino text”.
The audio sounds robotic — how do I add a better English voice?
Unless a tutor has uploaded a recording, the Listening audio, Repeat Sentence, Answer Short Question and Write from Dictation prompts are read by your device’s English voices. PTE uses a range of English accents (British, American, Australian and others), so a natural-sounding British (en-GB), American (en-US) or Australian (en-AU) voice works well. To add one: iPhone/iPad: Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → English, then download an “Enhanced” or “Premium” UK or Australian voice. Android: Settings → System → Languages → Text-to-speech → Speech Services by Google → Install voice data → English (United Kingdom) or English (Australia). Windows: Settings → Time & language → Speech → Add voices → English (United Kingdom) or English (Australia). Mac: System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → System voice → Manage voices → English. Then reload the page. Microsoft Edge and Chrome on a computer usually include natural-sounding English voices already.
Where do I start?
Start with Module 0 — Start Here: it explains PTE Academic and PTE Core, the three parts of the test (Speaking & Writing, Reading, Listening), how the 10–90 scores work and how to plan your study. Then work through the Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening modules and the language toolkit, using the practice bank for each task type as you go. When you are scoring well in practice, try one of the 8 full timed practice tests.
How do I switch between PTE Academic and PTE Core?
Go to Profile and choose PTE Academic (study abroad, and visas for Australia, New Zealand or the UK) or PTE Core (Canadian immigration — accepted by IRCC). You can change it at any time. The practice bank and practice tests then show only the tasks in your test (for example Write Essay and Retell Lecture for Academic, Write Email for Core), and word limits, timings and targets change to match. Your lesson progress is kept.
The Speaking recorder doesn’t work.
Allow microphone access when asked. If you said no before: on iPhone/iPad go to Settings → Safari (or GCI PTE) → Microphone; on Android, Settings → Apps → permissions; on a computer, click the lock icon beside the web address.
How do I install the app?
On iPhone/iPad in Safari: tap Share then Add to Home Screen. On Android or a computer in Chrome/Edge: tap Install when prompted, or use the browser menu → Install app.
When will my tutor mark my work?
Usually within 2 working days. If instant AI estimates are switched on, you see an estimated score straight away and your tutor confirms it. You’ll see a badge on Results when feedback is ready.
What score do I need, and how long will it take?
It depends on why you are taking PTE, and rules change, so always check the official source. PTE Core (Canada): IRCC sets requirements as CLB levels — for example, CLB 7 starts at about Reading 60, Writing 69, Listening 60 and Speaking 68 on PTE Core, and many Express Entry programs ask for at least CLB 7 (higher levels earn more CRS points). Confirm on the IRCC website. PTE Academic: universities set their own entry scores (often around 50–65 overall), and visa programs set their own levels (for Australia, the widely reported “Proficient” and “Superior” English levels from August 2025) — confirm with your university or the Department of Home Affairs. You can set your target in Profile. How long you need depends on your current English: many learners study for 4–10 weeks. Module 0 has a realistic study plan, and the practice tests show you when you are ready.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Delete my account. This permanently removes your data and recordings.
